The first Superhero Race in Romania, organized by OSCAR Downstream, generated unexpected enthusiasm. Over 1400 children, adults and people with disabilities ran in support of the Run for Heroes – fueled by OSCAR campaign, a campaign to raise awareness and eliminate stigma related to mental health.
The most popular race was, by far, the one for families with children under 16 years old, which lined up 400 children at the start, accompanied by their parents. Most of the participants came to the starting line dressed as the emblematic superheroes of our days.
"Congratulations to all participants! We are glad that such a large number of people responded to our invitation. The energy, the good will and the Superhero attitude animated, on Saturday, the alleys of Herastrau Park and gave us confidence that a new community is being formed, before our eyes. Run for Heroes – fueled by OSCAR is an initiative that takes a stand and says NO to stereotypes, discrimination and social prejudices related to mental health. We thank the partners at the TFH (Together for Humanity) Social Psychotherapy Center – themselves superheroes for the patients they work with, for the work they do every day. Together with them and with these wonderful people who ran with us, on June 15, we can make a difference in the lives of those who face such challenges", said Nicolae Bănică, CEO OSCAR Downstream.
"We are deeply grateful to all the participants in the first edition of the charity race Run for Heroes – fueled by OSCAR. Thanks to you, the TFH Social Center for Psychotherapy can continue to offer free therapies to the beneficiaries of social cases. The funds raised from this event will allow counseling and therapy for people in difficulty, contributing to improving their quality of life. Your enthusiasm and energy have been the engine that has made it possible to continue our work, helping us to eliminate the stigma related to mental health and promote a more empathetic and inclusive society. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and for choosing to run with us to make a real difference in the lives of those who need help. Together, we are stronger and we can bring positive changes in the community.'', said Răzvan Popa, President of the Together for Humanity Psychotherapy Center.
